I never said that the game wouldn't have space, I said if it doesn't it deserves to fail. GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - Starfire - 03-21-2010 I think it should have space. Period. It isn't Star Wars without it. But I'll still play it regardless since it looks fun. Well that and you guys will be there. Reason enough. Oh, and that guy from SOE is an idiot. If they want to understand why SWG failed they need look no further than their own greed. By the way, that was a well written response on that site Derv. Way to tell them! GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - QuorTek - 03-21-2010 Please shutup guys, Cillian is a very good guy, though a bit odd at times.. go and read this thread here and post in it since he posted this awesome thing!! http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=112703 You really hit very well with the hammer on the nail there Cillian, dunno I might have said some bad things about you now and then but I have to take that back because of this brilliant idea you deserve my deepest respect. GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - NightFire - 03-22-2010 So.. Cill posts a good idea, and gets a free pass because of it? No, it doesn't work that way GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - kateria - 03-22-2010 okay I tossed my 2 plug nickels into that thread a cill's . Love it or hate it . GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - QuorTek - 03-22-2010 Well it doesn't exclude the Mando - Jedi Love/hate relationship of course GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - kateria - 03-22-2010 hehe Quor ... why do I get the feeling that unless your the last mando standing . An the last jedi standing is respectable and a worthy ally . You might actually be happy for all of seven seconds . Then you'd be back to negative nancy in star fashion . GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - Pallos - 03-22-2010 "So customers want change, and they want the game experience to change over time, but they typically react badly to huge changes to the game. You leave people behind, and they don't have the time to kind of warm up to it." Cough NGE Cough GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - QuorTek - 03-22-2010 kateria Wrote:hehe Quor ... why do I get the feeling that unless your the last mando standing . Hey Kat, keep in mind I actually got a strong force line being one of the grey... but again they are looked upon as renegades from both the sith and jedi faction... A true warrior use everything he or she has at his or her disposal... there is no actual guidelines... keep your friends close... but your enemies even closer, but the best weapon of all... infiltrate your enemy, become his best merc or whatever and when he least of all expect it, pour poison into his drink, and then pretend to be looking after the assassin. Thats actually a pretty intetresting point there Derv. Adding on game play (JTL) isn't anywhere near the same thing as changing the entire game from the ground up (NGE). GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - Meparch - 03-23-2010 The guy was part of JTL and left before the CU but was a part of it. He wasn't a part of NGE. So he knows what he was a part of but probably doesn't give much thought to things that happened after he left, other than to laugh at the train wreck. So he can certainly say much about JTL but wouldn't have anything new to say about NGE that hasn't already been said many times by all the other outsiders. GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - kateria - 03-24-2010 well put arch . Tho given lucas arts track record with swg ... and the fiasco of nge . I would not be shocked if we got a bastardized version of a more watered down nge version for tor complete with arcade shooter tutor style kotor space action with cut scenes for the game . It's the least amount of work an keeps with the overt simplisitic styles presented in tor to date . GDC: BioWare's Walton on Adding Space Combat to Star Wars Galaxies & Customer Retenti - Pallos - 03-24-2010 The reason JTL wasn't the expansion to trump all expansions is that is wasn't that great of a game experience, in my opinion. It wasn't nearly as intuitive as X-wing, Tie Fighter, and XvT. There was no mechanism to push action to a place and a time, which was the downfall of all SWG pvp. PVP would have saved SWG, if it would have been done right. Unless your name is Blizzard, you can't win the PvE battle. You either settle for being the Mexico to Blizzard's USA, or you go in a different direction. I knew from the get go that Raph Koster's vision was a failure. I told them in beta that the Emperor had no clothes. A game has to go some place, otherwise, its not a game. You have the back drop of a galaxy spanning civil war, how can you fail utterly at getting people to fight? Lucas Arts is still a player and those guys are also known for ruining games how sad it may sound like. |
