Here's my beef with PC gaming - the end result is based on how much you pay for your computer. PC tech is, and has been, exploding for the majority of my lifetime. You buy something absolutely top of the line right now, tricked and decked out with everything you can get, it'll be barely second rate in a year. Great example is Crysis, which is now being held as the graphical gold standard. A couple years ago it was HL2, KotoR was in there a little before, etc. etc. An awesome comp that was built to handle HL2 would probably handle Crysis on low graphics modes.
With a console you never have to worry about setting your graphics down to get better gameplay. There is no tradeoff. Each game is specifically made (granted, or ported) for that particular system and can handle that particular system's capabilities. So when a big title comes out that I want to sit down and enjoy a graphics-fest, I'm going to get it on a console. Hence why I'll be buying a PS3 once a FF game comes out :-p
Regarding previous comments about FF, agreed you will not find much argument that FFVII was (and is) the most revolutionary, deepest, amazing, long living game we will probably ever see. Part of why FFVII was so good was that when it came out, no one had EVER put together a game of that scope before. I personally enjoyed the story of FFVIII, FFIX was kinda "eh" and FFX was truly a graphics-fest compared to FFVII, and is probably the deepest actual story since then. FFX-2 was a friggin joke, FFXI doesn't get counted, and FFXII was a game where I definately enjoyed the gameplay, but the story never really grabbed me. :

Granted one tends to buy a new computer more often than new consoles come out but new consoles do come out all the time. The PS4 graphics will be handled by intell this time.

The Wii will be around for at least another three to four years. The five year console generation is over. This one will last at least six. I'd say the first out of the gate for the (8th?) console generation will be MS again, but Nintendo will be the last to release a new machine. They almost always are. It's just their thing.

I was watching Connan O'Brian last night. They put the masturbating bear into carbon freeze a la Han Solo as the show is closing up shop. Out walked this big husky woman onto the stage. I thought she was some Russian bear handler or something until she was announced to be Carry Fisher. She hasn't looked good the past few years but those had been head shots mostly from what I seen. She really has gone down hill. It was shocking to see the once super hot babe from Jaba's looking well, not so hot. The point is, it doesn't matter how hot she is, eventually she'll look like some butch russian bear trainer.
