WoW - Meparch - 05-16-2009 EQ2 is fun. Sabs, Syn and myself are on Antonia when we do play, which isnt very often at all. Blackhawks is a cool guild on that server, should look them up. If Vanguard simply had a population and a good group of people to play with it would actually be a fun game at this point. But since it doesn't have a population and pretty much no dev support, well there you go. WoW - QuorTek - 05-16-2009 Got a EQ2 toon as well as a Vanguard toon still... but not sure if I want to play, well maybe when having a break off Eve or something. EQ2 got what SWG does not. content... but the crafting system is retarded Vanguard got a bit of this and that.. but no people in it :/ WoW - Starfire - 05-17-2009 Yeah, it's sad. Vanguard is actually a pretty good game. I would love to play it again if we could get enough sabers back in it. Z, I still play MxO. It's unique if nothing else. WoW - SBR_Scythe - 05-18-2009 Archangel Wrote:Every good story has a beginning, a middle and most importantly an END. There in lines the problem with TOR and guild wars. "Make Your Own Fun" - Pallos (amongst others I'm sure) Even in story based MMOs you have plenty of other stuff to do than the main storyline. Hell, consider a completely single player RPG like...insert final fantasy game here. Main storyline is worth ~40-60 hrs of gameplay. Extras, dungeons, hidden treasures, etc. are usually worth 3x-4x that amount. It's not just the main story, it's the rest of the immersive elements around the main story. GW is hemmorhaging players right now (hard to tell due to no sub fee and as such permanent accounts, but...) because the last true new content has been EOTN...that's 18 months ago. Everything else has been re-hashing the pre-existing content. I play more for the players (and the free-ness) than anything else, and that's what keeps me going there. Many of us played SWG even after exodus upon exodus more because of the people they played with. I don't think the game matters for us. I'll grant that we're tuned to Star Wars specifically and Sci-Fi generally, but any game that has enough for us to do together (particularly PvE it seems...) is a good game for SBR. TOR will work well for us as long as new content keeps coming. The game will be simply less limited than SWG was by taking it out of the iconic period of the movies we know so well and bringing it way the hell back in time to a period where we have a very rough general idea of what happened, but they can really do whatever. It's not as canon-ically bound, so to speak. It's 1:00 AM, I'm rambling, but that's my $0.02. WoW - QuorTek - 05-18-2009 I certainly think that it matters about the game.. we all played vanguard for 1-2 months... then we all quit, due to alot of various things. Stayed for a while myself though extra.. getting into a raid guild.. but well grew tired of it eventually as well. I think gameplay and complexity matters, mainly because it would keep the more hardcore players here in the meat grinder, else they would just vanish after a short period of time. WoW - kateria - 05-20-2009 I got suckered into vangaurd during beta ... tried it saw how badly it was . so left an never returned . All the post launch horror stories of vanguard I've heard has only reafirmed that I made the right choice in skipping vanguard . EQ2 I didn't mind was actually fun . but everyones on a different server an for some odd reason SoE isn't letting me transfer my euro server toons to anotica bayle us server . An I not sure I want to start over from scratch with that hehe . Sw:ToR who really knows . too much speculations too little hard facts ... Jury remains out . An after the big dissapointment of AoC , I'm really leary an jumping into another mmo with great potential and boat loads of hype . DDO was fun for the 6 weeks played then got to end game an went wow this sucks it's horrid . Lotro still playing on Landroval an loving it . the music systems been great , the promptu concerts been a scream . Not to mention a recent event that had people running around the shire tossing pies at other people . It got hectic in the shire like a paint ball game gone wrong . Many hobbits were pie maimed in the event . an tons more died of laughter . was great hehe the in game events in lotro reminded me of the early live events swg once held years ago . they do not occur often in lotro anymore but with word comming down the dev teams gotten the green light to do another expansion . The game is showing some staying power . Plus what other mmo awards a player a name title just for drinking other players under the table with brew master and brew drinking champion ? Or pie eating fat so . haha . Sides picture it , D'hors running around with warm pies while quor going hey whole stole my copper node . and Kirby too drunk an stumbling around after drinking too much ale . an other sabers getting a jam session rocking middle earth with U2 songs , guns n roses, an metallica around a crowd of hobbits lighting torches in hand then setting off fireworks to celebrate the music . peace out WoW - Phylok - 05-20-2009 baaa you guys are making me want to resub to LOTRO, play my hunter again. WoW - Sabriel777 - 05-21-2009 On a side note, playing WoW today.. I ran into Auron!!! For those who remember him rofl.. He's now playing a character on Syn and my server, and he finally came over to the side of awesomeness, The Horde! Was cool to talk to him again, as its been ages since I saw him. Now that I am reminiscing, I wonder what ever happened to Warja =oP WoW - Meparch - 05-21-2009 That's cool. Say hi to Auron from all of us. WoW - Starfire - 05-22-2009 Yeah, he may not play SWG anymore but tell his happy ass to get on the forums! We miss him. WoW - Quinlin - 06-09-2009 I play WoW on Dalaran, though right now I only play on a trial, I hope to run out tonight to buy the game. |
