Something I got Imogen... - Hanak - 12-09-2010 Is $1k a good deal for this laptop? Something I got Imogen... - NightFire - 12-09-2010 That's pretty hot for a laptop at that price. Out of curiosity, where did you get and how did you get that price =p Only thing I'd get upgraded potentially is the battery. Something I got Imogen... - Meparch - 12-09-2010 It is a nice lap top. I wouldn't get a 1.6g quad core though. I would want a faster dual core. I got the same thing a year and a half ago for $550, refrib off of ebay, though it has half the ram, smaller hard drive and screen and less of a video card but does have the bluray player. Though I forgot what button to push in that stupid HP software to make a bluray movie play. BTW there is no way you getting 5 hours, think maybe 2 1/2. 5 hours in sleep mode maybe. Something I got Imogen... - Hanak - 12-09-2010 I had thought of the battery...but she's not going to be toting it around alot - mostly to play TOR with us. Arch, I had the same qualms as you when I was checking out the i7 quad cores. But there is a setting TurboBoost something or the other so that when the speed is checked by a software (like games) it will read 2.8 gHz and operate in that fashion. Otherwise I had planned to use an i5 at 2.53 gHz. Nis, I went to the HP website and built it - and then searched online for HP rebates. I found one for $400 off of a custom built machine $1250 or more and right now they are running a special for $100 off. So I totaled the maching at $1499 and then ran the coupons. Something I got Imogen... - kateria - 12-15-2010 good times , good times ! Something I got Imogen... - Hanak - 12-23-2010 We got it and opened it only to find a horrific scratch (1 cm long and about 2 mm wide). I was pretty ticked that we paid good money to get a scratched up computer so after an hour and a half of tech support all they could do was issue a replacement.... Oh well, we will have it by the 12th of January. Something I got Imogen... - Sonic - 12-25-2010 That sucks... Do you have to send back the scratched one? ;p Something I got Imogen... - Hanak - 12-25-2010 Yeah...I should have asked how much it would have been to keep it. But because of the discount I was given they will probably make more money than selling it to me the first time around. (Plus my wife vetoed it - she didn't want me to have TWO super awesome computers) |
