My laptops graphics are OC'd to 2GB, I've played various games with settings set to high/advanced without a problem.

It still doesn't beat a high performance desktop pc though, the only good thing about a laptop is that I can take it to work and play games at work. Tongue

How does one over clock to 2 GB?

I'd about bet he meant 2 gHz.

I unlocked and modified the original firmware, that in turn increased the core and memory speed. From what was originally 1GB of RAM on the vid card increased by nearly 50%. That means my card has a little over 2GB. I basically borrow memory from the rest of the PC, and will most likely expire before it should.. and then I will cry. For now it is sweeeeet.

A video card has a bios like your motherboard would, except it is a lot harder to get. And I can't give away my secrets!! :mep:

But if it is a discrete card then all you'd have to do is buy another one rather than an entirely new laptop.

Sounds like you really slowed your card down to me. Don't use system memory for your video card if you don't have to. The system memory runs much slower than the integraded video memory. Unfortunately many laptops have to do this, as their integrated video feeds off system memory.

Generally you can increase processor and memory speed, possibly even increase memory band width or pipelines in the processor core depending on the model and how those things were disabled. Increasing physical memory requires the addition of chips.

My HP Dv4T is coffee color. And no, it doesn't do games but it does have the blueray lightscribe which is totally useless since I am too stupid to figure out how to get blurays to play on the HP software.
