Hey - QuorTek - 03-31-2008 Meryl Haddox Wrote:Clone Wars MMO would be cool Doubt it, it would be the same failure as SWG since it is the exact same concept just with new graphics. I hope that bioware is not stupid enough to make any starwars MMO, I really do mainly because they would do 10 times better in a D&D alike MMO with there general concepts and stuff, as well as way as it would not be an exact monotome way of doing things in general. Hey - NightFire - 03-31-2008 QuorTek Wrote:Doubt it, it would be the same failure as SWG since it is the exact same concept just with new graphics. Because game mechanics mean the exact same thing as story setting, eh? Hey - QuorTek - 03-31-2008 well I don't want to play the exact same game over and over again if that answers some of the questions to what I say. SWG was really fun pre cu, untill they got the NGE ideas, the CU ideas would had worked today if they did not decide to make the game exactly alike EQ2, it is stupid to think that another game with the same things going could be build into an already existing game as it is, it simply does not work like that. I don't know if it would be any different playing in a clonewars enviroment rather than the civil war enviroment, you tell me that? I hope Bioware are clever enough to do there own thing so they do not have to be on a force full Lucas Arts lease MMO wise. What we want is a game that does not change the core of the game once per 6 months or once per stupid friggen expansion Hey - Ryna - 03-31-2008 I miss swg -_- Unfortunately, the $30/month we would have paid for the two of us went towards rent, food and gas once we got our apartment. Now it goes to our mortgage, food, puppy bills, and gas. . We won't be in a position to play a mmo with a monthly fee for at least a couple years. I did love me my swg though, thatâs for sure . I wouldnât know any of you guys if it hadnât been for that game. I wouldnât even be married Youâll never catch me saying a bad word about that game, Tibs. /sigh Hey - Meryl Haddox - 04-01-2008 They learned alot from that experience Q, namely anything with a setup like the NGE is a terrible idea. If they do make another SW MMO they'll likely use the CU setup as the was pretty good (I joined just after it was released so I don't know how pre-CU was). They won't make the same mistake twice....... Least we hope they won't..... Hey - Starfire - 04-03-2008 As much as it pains me to say it, I agree with Nis on this one. The developers have learned the lessons SWG has taught. I have no doubt that with Bioware's raw talent, and an excellent IP like Star Wars, (and the cross marketing that will be EVERYWHERE... Like the new TV show? Come play the online game!) the game will be a decent success. Not to mention how fun it will be to have a new playground. I dunno. I'm all over any new Star Wars MMO. Even if it was Wickets Wonderful Online Wonderland. WWOW. Heh, maybe they would snag some of the WoW players with that clever acronym eh? Hey - QuorTek - 04-03-2008 yes the Sony Developers has been taught a lesson by delivering a crap game, but they change the gameplay with any game they have in stock and has done so this far at least to my knowledge. I don't think there would ever come a new starwars mmo ever again, not since SoE ruined one that once was great, also the idea is already used, and starwars wise, in the game genre, then often there seequals plain suck Would there even be a playerbase above 200K people for a new SW MMO? I seriously doubt it, not when a company like Blizzard can keep millions upon millions of people entertained with something that is much more simple, but for sure is getting new content all the time, instances, patches, areas to explore; in a degree that SoE or any other developer ever has been able to and technically still be having the Core essence of the game rather intact in how to do this and how to do that. If Starwars Galaxies had gotten the same content and addons the playerbase now would remain intact from back then if not alot more people playing as well, that goes for EQ2 and other SoE games made in general. I believe in that Bioware can develop a perfect game, but it would be fun if you actually could build your own areas and by that add to the MMO, think about that factor and since Bioware has had a huge success with that then now think about it if it would be people all the world actually making the games with Bioware making the basic campaigns, HUGE roleplayer aspect, huge content ways as well, but it would not work with only a civil war thing or sith wars or whatever, it simply does not bear enough general content overall compared to the entire fantasy universe where you technically can add from any other fantasy genre as well. Getting kind of friendly with the two aurora toolsets, and even doing stuff I would never have dreamt of doing ever right now, but well it requires logic alot of it, as well as insight in that this does that, but goes on the flaw rather fast, once you get keen to the tools that is. Hey - NightFire - 04-03-2008 Previous games that have failed mean very little when you've got an IP like Star Wars that has the potential to bring it many more subscripts then WoW. Hey - Mario Genao11 - 04-05-2008 I am in potbs atm but will be back soon in April so i hope to see the some of us left there again. The game is though comin back from the dead people are coing back many are still left and the space stuff is good with gunboats. The ground is good as well with pvp missions and as for the house thing Scyhte and Ryna, You can now change the angles of stuff so thatex: a gun can point up now. They really are trying to bring it back. Be back to SWG soon. As for this new MMO count me in although a KOTOR or after episode 6 time line theme would be more interesting. Another greta Bioware idea for an MMO would be a Mass effect MMO. They have a vast world(or galaxy) to explore that they can use in an MMO. Hey - QuorTek - 04-05-2008 Dunno I hear that potbs is very monotome, you sail to places build factories/maintain business/building new ships sail out again and once and a while kick some other boats ass. Hey - Mario Genao11 - 04-05-2008 It kinda is but its mainly about missions and pvp. It is fun as hell when the action starts and the ships are pretty cool, in the first round Spain(my nation XD) won so bad everybody gunned for us in this round(resets after a nation wins the round) which is why ill still play, its very political(alliances,Which to take etc) though and i really miss SWG too. Hey - Dervish - 04-05-2008 QuorTek Wrote:Dunno I hear that potbs is very monotome, you sail to places build factories/maintain business/building new ships sail out again and once and a while kick some other boats ass. If I could sail to Japan and become Miura Anjin, I'd buy a PotBS collector's edition. Hey - Mario Genao11 - 04-05-2008 you can be whoever you want to be in that game although rp is almost nonexistant Hey - Dervish - 04-05-2008 Mario Genao11 Wrote:you can be whoever you want to be in that game although rp is almost nonexistant I can be whoever I want to be on this forum and I don't have to play 15 dollars a month. Specifically, if PotBS was a world simulation, I might consider playing it. Otherwise not. The Caribbean is a cool backdrop, but I appreciate variety. Pirates, privateers and loyal nationals had a place in just about any part of the world. |
