New Timeline video: Onslaught of the Sith Empire - Sabriel777 - 01-24-2010

I have no issues with Microtransactions in MMOs where I am not paying a monthly fee. Ie) DDO it works well for, and the new game Allods Online, again it works well as the items you can buy are only convenience items, not game makers or breakers. However, EA cutting out a major portion of the game *cough Shale cough* and then adding it as extra downloadable content RIGHT when the game is released is an ass move.. seriously an ass move imo..

And Meryl, I hate to break it to ya hun... Open beta no longer counts as being "in" beta. Its essentially a stress test for the servers, nothing more. Sure they'll find and squash some new bugs, but its going to be released so soon, that is no longer an excuse. The STO Fanbois have been using that excuse for sometime now, and Im sorry but once open beta hits, the game is going live pretty much as is.. maybe a couple patches. But to be fair, no MMO is ever out of beta anymore... We just end up being the suckers paying for said beta testing Tongue

I said 'considered' not is Wink as it's a week to go to release date, so it can't really be called a beta anymore anyways, but I see what your saying and that's true lol

But if any of you do join or give it a try, shoot me a text, I'm Dylan Griff@dylangriff or Akii Yukzai@dylangriff lol

It'd be cool to be one of the jackasses to make a vulcan named Spork.

kateria Wrote:get used to micro transactions ... it's prolly the way mmo's are going to go down . Alot more money is being made simply off a micro transaction set up .

Okay I was wrong on fallout 3 , I just coulda sworn bioware was involved in it .

Dragon age Orgions I really did enjoy , it was no where near close to baldur's gate . But it was a hella decent attempt for a good set up . The story while it had several plot holes in it to be up there with swiss cheese ... the gameplay was pretty solid . An there were a few nights that ran longer then they shoulda for being addicted to the game . So no it wasn't all bad . Just saying there's several I do know who found the game kinda meh ... average an a lil over hyped .

Tor is too early to tell how it'll end up or what it'll look like once it's released . I'd just like to see more then a mere glimpse of 1 noob area . I'd like to see what if anything space will be like ... what exactly is entailed with crafting . What are vehicles like . what is the end game ? . An once you finish all 8 character stories is that it in the game ? . How custumizable are the characters you create . what sorts of clothing options , or armor options are out there . Will it be all cookiee cutter clones like nge became ? .

Nothing from the tor videos an production diaries have shown any of this .
Til some of those questions are addressed then I'm gonna sit back an comfortbly wait til tor does come round to being launched .

There has been many polls on the microtransactions issue already and the majority of the players on the SWTOR community voted against it each and every time. Now if they gave us the option where we decide which payment plan we wish to consider that should help matters (monthly fee, microtransactions etc) that way everyone is happy.

Unfortunately MMOs aren't democracies. They will do whatever revenue model they like best.

New Timeline video: Onslaught of the Sith Empire - kateria - 01-26-2010

Arch , thank you for delivering the money shot Tongue

And there you have it Cill. BioWare may look at it, might take some ideas down, but in the end, they'll do what they think is best for pulling in money for the company

One thing you guys aren't remembering is this isn't just Bioware anymore.... Bioware is a division of EA and we all know what they are like *cough Dragon Age - Shale cough* EA is the company really pulling the strings here, and they are ALL about the bottom line.

want those capital ships ... yup another digital download ..

It worked in dragon age , it's working for other mmo's ...

watch the really cool saber colors you want cill those hot neopn pink blades etc ... EA prolly do a tor store . where you can buy .

If you honestly don't think that model will not work . Guess again ....

Yeah, well those of us who bought the game at launch got screwed.. Shale was in the game from the beginning, hence him being written into the entire game storyline. EA just though they could make more profit if it was cut from the game and offered RIGHT AWAY as DL content.... Bastards... And I hate to say it, but I agree with you for how its likely that ST:tor will turn out with EA running things.

I was unaware those who bought the game at launch got screwed like that Sad . That's totally unfair to the first come first serve customers Sad .

Wardens Keep was really underwhelming wasnt it? The fact that some of the loot was random on a freaking pay to play DLC is retarded. Thanks for the cash! Oh, that shield? Well it's random. Restart from a previous save and try again. You don't have one? Oh, well that's too bad. Jerk move indeed. Still, it's the way things are going, might as well get used to it.

As far as Mass Effect 2. It's ok, but I don't like the oversimplification of the weapons and such. I miss the first game's system. Still, I'm hooked and will play it to the end. The space hamster rules too. =P

Wardens Keep sucked ass in DAO... it really did... was like 15 minutes then poof.. felt like paying 5 dollars for a cool looking armor I could had made myself with the toolset.

ANYHOW it is also the reason to why I am not going to play ME2... same game another time era.

Haha... then if you can remember the battle screams and such from the first Baldurs Gate you would roll around on the floor laughing... hilarous too..

Go more far back... and check out planescape torment... really some entertaining dialogs and bizarre comments in a freaky world as well =)
