I had heard it was a good book, that's why we went to see it with Sigi in the first place. I wonder what the thought process was when they decided to end a Fantasy movie with Avril. They probably would have ended Lord of the Rings with some Celine Dion action.

I generally only like movies that are adapted from books if I haven't read the book first. If John weren't in Florida he'd be going off on how much he hates the Jason Borne movies. He made the mistake of reading the books first Smile

I didn't read the books till after the movie, and they left so very much out of the movie that was in the book. That being said, I did enjoy the movie, as a stand alone from the book, not a adaptation of the movie since there was so much left out of the movie itself from the book

I saw it just after reading the second book... and that made it worse. Because not only did I see how badly they farked up Eragon, but I also so how it was frankly impossible to do Eldest with what they changed. Arya not even an elf? Hrothgar and the dwarves just background characters? The Twins not even IN it? The Raz'ac dead? Arya and her guards going to Ellesmera WITHOUT Eragon? I mean seriously... it could have been a VERY successful series of movies, and they sabotaged it.

I try to view movies based on books (or other movies/TV shows) as complete standalone unless their characters/plot are very close. IE Transformers, Dukes of Hazzard (the one with Shawn William Scott and Jessica Simpson). Movies that did go along with the originals were Ironman and the new Batman movies. It's all dependent on ones ability to look past ones expectations, something that Kirby can't seem to do for the life of them (going back to Transformers when he freaked out over that :lolSmile

Yeah, even after watching it again, I still hate that movie. Seriously, Michael Bay is an idiot.

I just couldn't buy into that movie at all. Giant robots from outspace fighting an epic battle on earth, sure that is possible, but all those cars with the GMC logo on them actually running - completely unbelievable. Those robots should have been breaking down left and right.
