What will be the tally after October 15th?

Yeah I wouldn't mind playing again, if it were free. Big Grin

I'd play again if it was free ... After October 15 , soe reduces the active servers down to 6 servers . Same thing they did with EQ1 ... Within a year that will go down from 6 to 3 servers an with in a year or two that will be it for swg ...

Well the game is over 6 years old. Considering everything that happen taking 6 years to close down some servers is either a very good thing for SWG or epic procrastination.

Heck, Pirates of the Burning Sea has been down to 4 servers for a few months and that game is very young compared to SWG.

Alot of them games simply does not cut it... SWG failed to be popular when becoming a WoW hybrid where as SWG as a game actually earned in a pretty nice amount of credits at the CU and pre cu as well.... but not in NGE.

Blame WoW for it in some ways.. and the developers of games who think they can re-invent wow by making wow just in another shape is rather a blond move as well.

Blaming WoW for SWG's inevitable demise isn't exactly right. You can't blame a game for being so successful that some other game's devs wanted to emulate it to a certain degree. All blame lays squarely with SOE and LA.

It's like sleeping with a super model, she ruins it for all other girls.

It's amazing how everyone put up with broken quests and constant post-release re-tooling of balance and skills prior to WoW's release. Oh, and paying for the space "expansion"!

the model they have been running with for the last 12 months actually works out as fun as it might sound it is not a bad game to play anymore, problem is just like it took 5 years to get there Sad

LA's massive changes to the game bringing in NGE , nerfed game enhancements ... ruined swg . Sure it took them 5 years to get a working game ....but what they did with nge really killed it it for 95% of the vetern player base to a point the game really has never recovered and likely never will ... the closure of 75% of it's servers is proof of that .

Also with the server reductions it opens the door to eventually shut down swg completly with in six months of tor going live . It's a tax write off for soe initially but now it's just draining soe of resources they simply don't want to invest in anymore an LA cut there losses with swg years ago ...

Little doubt if the game they have right now was the game they released in 2003 it would have done much better. Which is why the game isn't done until it is done. Blizzard got it right and showed the rest of the industry how to properly make and release a game.
