Need some advice on SSD's

#1
I am going to buy a SSD and I'm wondering if it would be better to put the OS on it or just games/programs? The main reason is my main HD is starting to die (lasted almost 8 years).

OS and top games you play need to go on it.

It is best to hold out as long as you can to get the biggest SSD you can at the cheapest price .... but since your HD is dying anyways.

Get the biggest you can afford from a quality manufacture. That is usually intel or samsung, though most of the early problems with SSDs are gone, you still don't want a drive failure. At least 180 gig for your OS and any common use programs. Also note, these drives need a lot of extra space as they move data around a lot to optimize drive life.

Sign up for neweggs daily deals emails. They always have some SSD on sale for a good amount off the normal price that won't be beat anywhere.

Buy the brand

1. Intel 520 type of SSD

2. Samsung is second best I think

The price difference in general on SSD's is huge... alot of the brands are sold for cheap and stuff like that but far from as relieable as Intel as first priority to buy then if no go, go for samsung... but would recommend Intel any time any day.

ANYHOW DON'T BE FOOLED BY CHEAP SSDs!!! in this case it is actually a relieability, durability issue as alot of the cheaper brands also have a horrible failure rate unless you like sending your SSD back and forth all the time as a hobby.
