As long as Jar Jar doesn't show up and they don't turn the main villian into a crying wuss, I think the franchise is safe.

Well they have the spike type kid to be the jar jar. Then all we need is for Optimus to say "Someday, I'll be the most powerful autobot ever!".

In the 1986 movie, it was Daniel (Spike apparently got some tail after the end of the original cartoon series) :p
